re/discover the beauty of Virginia Tech

January 22, 2005

We have some snow!!! Naturally, that means – “photo opp”. :-)

I like snow, and more so when it is in black and white. Here’s a couple of shots for your enjoyment: trees in the snow in front of Hutcheson Hall and Solitude at the Duck Pond.

The first Virginia Tech calendar that I ever made. It all started as more as a bet than anything else. My family and friends kept bugging me about making something with all the pictures of Tech campus that I have taken in the last few years. Personally, I think they were just eager to see if they could convert me into a capitalist or something. Anyhow, here it goes. I hope you will like it.

January – Alumni Hall;
February – Williams Hall;
March – Torgersen Hall;
April – Lane Stadium;
May – Commencement Ceremony;
June – War Memorial;
July – Burruss Hall;
August – Squires Student Center;
September – Virginia Tech Cheerleaders;
October – The Highty Tighties, the Virginia Tech Regimental Band;
November – The Marching Virginians, the Spirit of Tech;
December – The Grove, home of Virginia Tech Presidents;
bonus (January 2006) – Lane Stadium (South End Zone).

“Hello World” was the title of the first ever web page that I made back in the 1996 or 1997. Since then my page had gone through a myriad of changes from simple notepaddish HTML/SHTML to full blown PHP-based CMS. The road has not always been a smooth one, but enjoyable nonetheless and if nothing else – very, very educational (and there’s no substitute for that).

In any respect, after trying out various content management systems I am still looking for a setup up that not a full-blown CMS over-kill, yet extensible if need be. Therefore, I’ve decided to give blog format a chance, we’ll see what happens.
